Single atoms in 3D

Prof. Friedemann Reinhard's research group has captured a three-dimensional image of individual atoms ("NV centers") in diamond using three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging. This technique currently achieves a resolution of just under 10 nm. With an improved version of our tomography scanner, it can probably be increased to the sub-nanometer scale, which would make 3D images of individual molecules possible.
