Ocean Talents

How can a shortage of skilled workers in the ocean and underwater technology field be avoided in the long term?

This is the main question behind the project "Ocean Talents". We consider all educational paths, from school through university to the direct training of employees in companies. Within the project we will develop and test new teaching materials for schools, develop a certificate course for Rostock's IHK (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), internationalize the master's course in ship and marine technology and organize annual summer schools at the University of Rostock. Additionally, we will look into the legal possibilities of a flexible exchange of personnel within the OTC. The subsequent coordination of these measures which consider all ages, experience levels and educational paths thus provides a novel approach to securing skilled workers in the field.
